ANSWERS

1.  A.  $122,500.  That includes everything!  Salaries, vet bills, utilities, this is what the shelter survives on.  Survives is the right word.

 2.  D.  Nothing.  Transportation of all animals, to the vet for example, is done either in the staff's personal vehicles or the personal vehicles of volunteers.

3.  C.  2 full-time and 3 part-time.  That is the entire staff.

4.  A.  12.  Total number of dogs the shelter can house without doubling up, which is often not possible.

5.  D.  700-800.  The shelter in a typical year cares for over 700 animals, dogs, cats, ferrets, birds, rabbits, even fish.  Cats and dogs are by far the largest number.

6.  B.  False.  The shelter must pay for vet care, we do get a discount, thank you Spooner Vet and Creatures Great and Small, but this amounts to about 25% percent of our budget.

7.  B.  False.  The shelter has no facilities for large animals.  Volunteers must be found where the animals can be kept.  The shelter also does not have food, hay, transportation, etc. for these types of animals.  In the past confiscations of this type have drained the shelters' financial resources severely.

8.  A.  True.  Duh.

9.  Trick Question.  The shelter has never been able to afford a new computer.  All computers (2) have been donated used ones.
