Muggy--Hello Every One-
I am writing you to update you on the love of my life Muggy!!!  You may remember those little boys everyone thought looked like gremlins.  Well people still say he looks like a gremlin, but to me he is the most beautiful dog ever!!!  He is a very smart boy who loves to learn.  He is also a wonderful companion dog, he loves everyone including our potbellied pig Ziggy.  He is doing wonderful, and he goes everywhere with me and my family.  He even puts up with getting dressed up in girl clothes!!!  I want to thank you for a wonderful little guy, with a huge heart!!!  Here is a recent picture of him just relaxing on the couch like he always does.  I swear he thinks he is a human!!!!

Little Sammy...We are sending you a recent picture of "Fargo" now Little Sammy He is so spoiled. We love him so much. Thanks.

Daphne..Daphne is sitting in front of Old Faithful waiting for the eruption. I will write more about how she is doing  when we get home, but I thought you would be happy to know she is doing great. She is very mellow and well mannered for a pup. She walks well on her leash and needs to make sure she can see both of us when walking. If I lag behind she stops and waits for me. She has had no potty accidents!  And she is great in the car. Loves to curl up on the floor of the backseat. People are constantly stopping to ask about her and even a few have taken pictures. Needless to say we are thrilled with her. Thanks again for everything!

Update on Daphne..

Hi everyone,

Here is a picture of Daphne with her favorite towel (she has a thing for towels) enjoying her outdoor bed on the deck. She is growing like a weed and her legs are getting longer.

On her trip home from Wisconsin to California Daphne visited Mt Rushmore, The Badlands, Devil's Tower, Yellowstone, and even the Corn Palace in South Dakota, but I think her favorite stop was the Petco in Salt Lake City.  She learned that there was such a thing as a glass door (after trying to walk through several of them), that she wasn't a great lover of the hotel elevator, and that of all the dogs she met along the way, she was the cutest.  We learned she is a great tracker. After leaving the hotel rooms for potty breaks or dinner she would consistently lead us back to the correct room without hesitation or direction.  On the last night of the trip we decided to test her and after returning to the room after dinner we let her off the leash in the hotel hallway to see what she would do.  She ran ahead and stopped right at our room, sat down and waited for us.  This is a very smart dog!

She is now a Northern California girl and has quickly adapted to the lifestyle. Since her dad is a teacher and home for the summer, each morning starts with a walk and a drive to the local coffee shop for a latte. She has had her first romp in the lake, a close encounter with the skunk that we fear lives under our deck, and a daily ritual of watching a flock of wild turkeys walk by our deck.  She finds them fascinating and stays as still as she can so she doesn't scare them off.  She is enamored with our siamese cat, Elle (Elle doesn't share her enthusiasm), and the four of us have found a way to share the same bedroom at night without incident. It has been a rough year for us with the loss of 3 beloved pets (our chocolate lab and 2 cats) and I think that although Elle acts annoyed with Daphne, it is nice for her to have another critter in the house to replace her long time friends (she always acted annoyed with them as well, so Daphne fits right in).  Daphne continues to be the silly girl you first described to us and takes joy in the simplest things.  She is a collector and will steal things to take to her bed (including socks, towels, blocks of wood, and a spoon from the kitchen).  She is not at all destructive (except the socks) and has a very gentle mouth.  Daphne has met a lot of people including her new Vet, her grandparents, the neighborhood walkers, and she had an eventful visit to my office. After meeting her, people don't think we are crazy anymore for traveling so far to adopt her.  And even though she spent many hours in the car driving home, she continues to love going for a drive.

Needless to say everything is going great.  We will send pictures as she grows (we are anxious to see how big she gets), and give you updates on her development.

Thanks again for everything,

Kathy and Dan

Pete...Back in May of 2003, I adopted my dog from your shelter.  You may remember us, we came up from Madison and took home Pete, a white Jack Russell Terrier.  Later, I was able to donate some contest winnings to the shelter and it was in your local paper.  Anyway, I wanted to pass on the sad news that Pete has passed away.   His health began to decline this spring and about a month ago he developed diabetes and pancreatitis.  Despite daily insulin shots and other treatments, he took a really bad turn over the 4th of July weekend and last week, I held him at the vet's office as he was put to sleep.  I want you to know that when you entrusted Pete to me, you truly changed my life for the better.  Pete gave us so much joy and he was given lots of love for it.  He was definitely a high maintenance dog, and nothing ever came easy, but it was always rewarding in the end.  I can't possibly put into words how much he will be missed.  Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to find each other.

Bella...ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!!!!! She is just an amazing dog, we just love her to death!!! We got home last night and made dinner, she came to the table one time and we told her to go lay down and she went right to the kitchen and laid on the rug till we were done. My 3 year old was eating toast this morning and he dropped in on the floor...she was laying in the living room and saw him drop it and just stayed right there and didn't even attempt to go get it!  She doesn't jump on the furniture, she doesn't bark, she doesn't beg!!! When we got home last night she had just one accident in the house and nothing since, she gets along great with everyone in the neighborhood and even the other dogs.  Then we went to bed last night and made her a bed on the floor next to us and she laid down just fine then we turned off the lights and about 10 seconds later she just jumps up in the bed and goes right to sleep!!! Some may think that's a problem but I have no problem with it so it looks like she sleeps with us! We did try to get her to go and sleep with the kids in the basement but she won't stay down there, kinda weird....but she just doesn't like it down there for some reason, she always runs right upstairs.  She stays right in the yard and comes when called, sits, lays, shakes hands and loves to give kisses!!! I think i've said enough.....we are absolutely positive that you aren't getting her back!! Oh ya one more thing that's kinda funny.....if we leave the car window down and we are all outside she will run out there and jump right through the open window and sit in the car and just wait to go for a ride!!! Thank you so much for working with us and giving us the opportunity to adopt her, she has given us nothing but happiness and lots of love!!!!

...We couldn't be happier!! What you are doing is absolutely amazing, I was telling my husband that I wished we lived closer cause we would be able to come volunteer and help out there for you.
THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!!!!!
